Lukas Arons

Lukas Arons (1968 The Netherlands) has his studios in Sweden and Luxembourg while his sculptures in snow and ice arise on different locations in Northern Europe. He is the founder of “StoneZone” (Hällevadsholm, Sweden) a meeting place for professional (stone)artists and education center for naturalstone workers of different kind. His larger stone sculptures, often made as commission and mostly site specific works can be found throughout many cities in Europe. (amongst them Göteborg in Sweden, Luxembourg city and Steinfort in Luxembourg, Rotterdam and Werkendam in The Netherlands.) He also participated in many exhibitions around Europe. As a snow and ice sculptor Lukas Arons has been involved in many different snow and ice projects. In Hovden he worked already in 2008 and 2009. Since 2007 Arons has been responsible for the illumination of Bjorli Snowhotel and he will be in charge of the lighting of “Munch in Snow and Ice” during the Oslo World Ski Championship 2011.

A sculptural interpretation of Munch’s Måne by sculptor Lukas Arons will appear at this years Snow Sculpture Hovden 2011. For the third time at Hovden leading artist Lukas Arons, together with his team, will create a delicate yet powerful scenery in snow and ice. This years spectacular sculpture, in combination with the use of subtle and cunningly placed lighting, will rise both mystically and majestically far above the heads of the spectators.
